About Us
The purpose of the South Bay Auxiliary of Harbor Interfaith Services is to initiate and carry on fundraising projects for Harbor Interfaith Services (HIS). Since 2007 we have contributed over $1 million to HIS, including $150,000 in 2024 which was raised virtually.
Since 1975, HIS has served the vital needs of the homeless and working poor throughout the greater South Bay area. It strives to eliminate hunger and homelessness and promote self-sufficiency within our community. HIS currently serves as the lead agency to coordinate homeless services in the South Bay.
In the 15th District of Los Angeles where Harbor Interfaith Services is located more than 4,457 people are homeless on any given night.
In 2021, HIS provided 23,371 services to nearly 9,000 households. This was a 12% increase over 2020.
94% of HIS revenues go directly to providing services to the homeless and working poor.

General Meetings
Second Wednesday of every month, 7:00 p.m.
Although it is not required, many of us enjoy volunteering at HIS by helping in the preschool, helping with the holiday toy distribution or by helping in other ways. Some of us also volunteer at Palos Verdes Resale, which donates a portion of its funds to HIS. Individual board members also sometimes organize food drives among their friends and neighbors to help provide for the increased number of people who are using the food pantry at HIS.
